Creating Memories At University | Lifestyle

Hi all, how are we doin'? Sorry about the little delay between posts but I've been so busy and then when I planned to write something for this blog I started to feel unwell. Can you believe we are in August already? For us Students that means returning to university is looming, or if you are a first year it'll only be a matter of time before you move to halls if you haven't already! Living in a university/rented accommodation means you are limited to what you can do to a room. I've always taken it upon myself to create super cute collages of photos on my walls, it always keeps me taking photos as I have somewhere to put them and update them and it is a little more creative than sharing them just on social media. I was recently contacted by a PR company on behalf of HP and their new social media snapshots campaign and I thought it would be perfect for you all. Below is the video all about how to print the photos and then I thought I'd talk to you about creating your own photo wall!

Creating a photo wall:
Once you've printed out a wide selection of photos this is where the creative part comes in. In the past I've cut up snippets from magazines as well as posters to add a bit more colour to the wall. The added a mix of photos in the gaps. Currently my photos are in a fairly toned down display in a 4 by 4 square which suits the room I am in. I would love to one day cover a whole wall in photos with no gaps but I don't have that many friends (jokes who wants to see themselves that many times). Pinterest has some gorgeous suggestions of how to create a photo wall if you are looking for inspiration.

Hopefully this inspired you and gave you some ideas for your new room which awaits you sooooon!

4 Ways To Live A Healthier Lifestyle | Tips and Tricks.

Hi all, how are we doing? SO sorry about the delay between posts at the moment, I am sad that when I am busy my student blog suffers but I am hoping to change this soon and be able to create a weekly post for this blog, if you have any suggestions of what you'd like to see on my blog do let me know, I am happy to write about what you lot like to read. Today I am bringing you an advice styled post on how to live a healthier lifestyle whilst at university, I thought I'd give you some tips and tricks how to implement a healthy lifestyle whilst living at university (although we all know it is SO hard). Let me know your top tip for keeping healthier whilst at university.

Tip One: Less Drinking.
Being a university student of course involves drinking a lot, there are so many parties and events which involve drinking, going to party and not drinking can often make you feel like an outcast and people saying you're boring. For this tip I am totally NOT asking you to give up alcohol all together, but I am saying to cut down the booze to a once or twice a week instead of seven days a week. OR just drink when it is a big event, it is ok to say no to drinking and if your friends have a problem with that then that is their own problem, not yours.

Tip Two: Ditch The Fast Food.
Speaking from experience with this one, but eating takeaway every single day of week is going to make you unhealthy, feel like crap and give you less energy. Although pizza is good and as is Chinese food it is important to sometimes cook for yourself, I have found the most useful site I have for creating dishes from the leftover food in your cupboards is Big Oven you share three items you have in your house and it will create tasty dishes for you to make. Do this when you feel like ordering takeaway as you have no food in as it will save you money, help you stay healthy and give you a new meal idea.

Tip Three: Alternatives To Smoking.
In 2016 vaping is the new way forward, smoking is old news and if you want to smoke something that tastes better and is a lot less damaging to yourself than smoking, as well as being able to do it indoors (no more trips outside in the rain) vaping is the one for you. Being a student vaping is the new way to smoke socially without harming those around you, Vapelux offer a HUGE range of vaping tools to get you started as well as what you need to start smoking Shisha including many Shisha pen flavours.

Tip Four: Start Working Out.
Although a gym membership isn't always friendly to a student budget there are SO many other fun ways to exercise which can work for a small budget or even no budget. Some examples of this are swimming and running. With Swimming you can pay as you go or get a student pass for a fraction of the price. Running with friends is a totally free way to hang out as well as work out. Other ideas could include buying some weights and working out at home or the university gym is usually cheaper than other 24 hour gyms.

What are your top tips for getting healthier at university?

In or out what will you decide? | Lets talk

For those of you who live in the UK I am sure you are very aware of the huge decision that is upon most of us over the age of 18 in the UK, whether or not to leave the EU. If you are like me and not really sure and have spent a lot of time researching before taking the time to vote on the 23rd of June. With so many people out these lost and confused with what to vote for, and with a recent survey ran by My Voucher Codes for the opinions of students on the topic at hand. With a lot of students concerned with the outcome of leaving the EU and what it will do to their lives as students. Being a student myself I have been considering what I will vote for for a while now and after hearing a talk from Boris Johnson in my local town about the EU and why we need to leave and after reading so many articles about why we need to leave I was even more confused than ever. With the results written up by The Independent I decided to share with you lot the concerns of the students polled and also let you know what my own personal opinion is, although this isn't something I would usually write about with it being an important topic and current I thought I would give it ago.

Some of the top worries of students about leaving the EU are:

  1. Harder to travel around Europe - 64%
  2. Harder to gain work in Europe - 49%
  3. Effect on employment post-university - 46%
  4. Loss of education funding from EU grants - 45%
  5. Harder to study in Europe - 41%
  6. Rise in loans interest rates - 38%
  7. Harder for UK and European universities to collaborate - 28%
  8. European students facing higher fees in the UK - 17%
  9. Issues for EU nationals currently studying in UK - 15%
  10. Less protection for workers’ rights - 13%
After reading up on the subject myself I will be voting remain and this is due to many reasons the first being the fact I feel like the UK is more secure in the EU as it where we've been for so long and the EU protects on many things like workers rights and wages. According to EU Referedum
"Average real wages could be nearly 3% lower than if we remained in the EU, which would amount to a reduction of £800 a year for someone working full time on the average wage."
Which to me is a real scary thing which could happen to us, along with the fact we risk the possibility of losing up to 50 trading contracts which are already in place!

I would love to know what you are thinking of voting and what your reasons are, I just wanted to disclaim there is obviously reasons for both sides and my opinion does not mean it is right or wrong one. I hope you enjoyed my attempt at being serious for once.

For £12.99 a month you get lots of product which always costs more than the box itself and it's a great way to try new and interesting foods as well as getting something fun through the mail! Because you've read this post you get an amazing £6.00 discount off your first box with code BLDEG15 so for just £6.99 you can a whole range of amazing products yay. If you want to read Aprils review check it out here.

 Brioche Pasquier – Croissants
I am total fiend for Croissants so this is the most perfect thing I could of received within a box, these are great for snacks on the go and for breakfast in the morning. Eat then cold or warm them up the choice is yours!

Jack Daniels – Honey BBQ Glaze
The perfect accomplice for any steak or burger, and my other half has fallen in love with it. Although it's not my thing I know a lot of my friends enjoy this with their food so a perfect barbecue glaze sauce from Jack Daniels, what more can you ask for?

Pechkeks – Misfortune Cookies
When I saw these I was interested to see what was inside and these are fortune cookies but with a misfortune inside and the cookies themselves are black, I got a message in mine about having my dreams destroyed as you do. I love these as opposed to a fortune cookie as the dark sense of humour cracks me up and is totally me all over!

Garofalo – Fusilli
I can hands down say this is my favourite pasta of all time, I buy it often and I enjoy it because of the shapes it comes in, the cooking time and the overall taste. I find it more appealing than general pasta, I love to pop the pasta in a bake and it tastes even more yummy and has an awesome texture to it. Would recommend 100% to any fellow pasta lovers out there.

Kallo Milk Chocolate Corn Cakes & Yogurt Rice Topped Cakes:
At first I was a little apprehensive about trying these but as soon as I saw the word chocolate I was riiiight in there. These are great snacks and full of goodness to get you through to lunch time (anyone know the struggles?) perfect desk treat or even good for breakfast!

Beloved Dates- Date Nectar
Although I am not a huge fan of honey I was drawn to the packaging of this and also how much it looks like honey, I passed it on to my boyfriend who eats just about anything and he said it's great and tastes just like honey! So anyone looking for a natural alternative I think you've found your guy (or honey)

Cranes Cider:
It's that time in the box where alcohol makes an appearance and although I hate cider my friends were more than happy to try these out for me. Although the flavours got a thumbs down from them but that might possibly be because they're beer drinkers so if you're a cider fan, totally give this ago for yourself!

Mrs Crimbles – Gluten Free Cookies
When I saw these in the packaging I had no idea what they were at all until I opened them up and found that they are actually cookies! They're gluten free so a perfect treat for anyone who can't eat gluten! Although I wasn't a huge fan of them, my other half loved them!

Pommegreat- Pomegranate Juice:
Totally not a thing for me as I hate Pomegranates but a perfect thing to have in the fridge for when you have guests to stay (or if you like it yourself obviously drink it) it's a super cool looking drink and the packaging is fun and eye catching!

Wonderful- Pistachios & Almonds:
I have tried these previous and they're amazing, these are adorable treat sized bags so perfect for on the go or a break time snack. I love the packaging of these as they are fun and colourful and draw your attention and you can also get the pistachios in a variety of fun flavours!

What would you most like out of this box?

Ensuring you get your FULL housing deposit back!

Ensuring you get your housing deposit back in full

It’s the end of your student letting period and it’s time to move out. When you leave, you’ll have the opportunity to get your initial deposit back.
Providing you don’t damage anything, you should be able to get back the full amount. However, there are a few conditions that’ll help keep hassle to a minimum. Here are some tips from Newcastle based lettings agency letslivehere to ensure you get your deposit back.

Take inventory

When you first move in, pay close attention to the inventory you should be given by your landlord or agent. Take pictures of the property. When it’s time to move out, check the items in the inventory are all in good working order and replace them if necessary. Your property should be returned in as close to its original state as possible to match the original photos.

Fittings

You may be surprised to learn that your landlord is not responsible for lightbulbs and other minor maintenance items like smoke alarm batteries. When it’s time to leave, ensure you replace any broken light bulbs and put a new battery in the smoke alarm so that they’re in the same condition as when you left it.

Cleaning

Once it’s time to move out, you’ll need to do the most extensive clean you’ve done so far on your property to return it to its original condition. You’ll need to wash the following areas:
  • Skirting boards.
  • Doors.
  • Window frames.
  • Sockets and switches.
  • Inside and outside of any appliances you leave in the property.
  • Inside and outside of cupboards — pay particular attention to the back of cupboards which can attract dirt over time and go unnoticed.
  • Sanitise bathrooms and kitchens with anti-bacterial solutions.
  • Clean all worktops and countertops.
  • Clean and polish all woodwork and surfaces in the kitchen, bedrooms and living rooms.
  • Sweep and wash all floors.

Consider a pre-move landlord check

It isn’t uncommon for tenants to invite a landlord to their premises for an early inspection to point out anything they’re unhappy with. This gives you time to fix things before you move out so they can’t subtract from your deposit.

Fight off damp

While dampness is often not your fault, you should still try and combat it at all costs. Use a dehumidifier if your landlord will provide one or try and leave the heating on for an hour a day. Don’t leave washing in unventilated rooms and clean any damp patches with diluted bleach or a fungicidal wash.

Meet Parcel For Me | Tips and Tricks

Being a student and getting parcels delivered is a nightmare, being in lectures at the most random of times means I usually miss my deliveries and have to wait to get them redelivered *ball ache*. That pair of shoes which are far too high and you would never be able to walk in which you ordered at 4am after a lot of alcohol you even want those to be delivered or that random thing you ordered but don't have a clue what it is, having that red card in front of is making the suspense unbearable, I mean what the hell is it?!

Today I am bringing you Parcel For Me the company that puts YOU in charge of your delivery, uh yes please! Making the online check out process even easier whether you are drunk or sober you'll have an easy time checking out, does anybody else find it tiring to enter your card details like 50 times over? Being a student around loan time, I place a lot of orders and find it hard to keep track of delivery times and who is delivering what so this is a super helpful service which you should all check out and make delivery as simple as it should be.

Who is looking forward to not finding their deliveries on the roof (yep one firm really does that) or in their bin anymore?

*Cheers to that

10 Ways To Spend Less Money On Food At University | Tips and Tricks

Guest post by Bronni from Student Money Saver

University is expensive, after you’ve factored in rising rents, travel costs, government cuts, textbooks and everything else you’re expected to pay for as a student, buying food can seem almost unaffordable. But you don’t need to deprive yourself, if you follow these tips you should be able to eat well and have a bit of money left over to have fun with.

IMG_20150808_115210.jpg

1. Eat breakfast
Nobody wants to get up any earlier than they absolutely have to when they’ve got a 9am lecture, but if you’re someone who likes to grab a mid-morning pastry before your next seminar it can add up to a fair bit of money over time. If you can, eat before you leave so you won’t be as hungry, or just throw a cereal bar in your bag.

A box of six Special K bars costs about the same as a single Costa croissant, and that’ll sort you out for a whole week!

2. Bring a packed lunch
If you’re super prepared, bringing a sandwich can mean serious savings at lunchtime. Even though a Tesco meal deal or a hot lunch from the canteen isn’t that expensive, it’s always cheaper to bring something in. If you get access to a microwave saving leftovers from the previous night makes a change to sandwiches and further cuts down on waste.

3. Don’t shop when you’re hungry
This is an easy one, it’s been proven that shopping on an empty stomach means that you’re more likely to buy food that’s less healthy, AND spend more! Grab a snack before you leave to cut down on junk food and save yourself a bit of cash.

4. Make a list (and stick to it)
Sit down to make a list before you go to the supermarket, it’ll help you not to forget what you actually need and stop you picking up the little ‘extras’ that can end up costing you. I like the app Keep (Android or iOS) for keeping all sorts of notes and lists on your phone.

5. Don’t buy too much
The fact is that most packets of food at the supermarket are designed to feed a family of four, which is probably why it always seems like you’re throwing mouldy food away. By choosing loose fruit and veg or smaller packs of meat you will save money, despite not being as good ‘value’.

If there’s a special offer on a 1 KG bag of carrots, it’s still not going to turn out cheaper than buying the two loose carrots you’re likely to eat in a week.

6. Buy frozen
Where these rules don’t apply is on frozen food. It’s amazing value for students because it saves time, doesn’t go off, and you’ll know you’re going to eat it all eventually. A bag of potatoes the same price as a bag of Aunt Bessie’s mash will make a lot more mash, but by the time you get to that point those potatoes will have all grown eyes and be getting a bit mushy. Yuck.

7. Try couponing
Couponing is amazing, see that smoothie and quiche? Totally free. I’ve written an absolutely massive guide to couponing, and it really isn’t difficult to get into if you’ve got a bit of time. It’s amazing for picking up the little luxurious things you can’t really afford. I 100% recommend giving it a try, you’re not going to come away with trollies full of freebies like they do on TV, but a free bar of chocolate every now and again is definitely realistic.

8. Yellow stickers
There’s nothing I love more than a yellow sticker reduction, and there’s definitely a knack for hunting down the best bargains - they’re all explained in my article on supermarket reductions tips & tricks if you want to find out how.

9. Make sure you always have food in the house
It’s always tempting to buy a takeaway when there’s no ‘easy’ food in your kitchen, which is why I recommend ALWAYS having an emergency ready meal or some pasta sauce in the freezer. When you want a Chinese you’re probably just going to do it, but sometimes you only make an order because you’d rather spend £20 than walk in the cold to Tesco.

10. Use cashback and discount codes
I’m not going to advise you not to buy takeaways, they’re DELICIOUS and sometimes nothing else will hit the spot. But if you do, try and remember to look up a discount code and get cashback. You can get 50% off at Pizza Hut and Domino’s quite often, so it’s always worth keeping an eye out.

Making the most of your uni room! | Lifestyle

Pretty much everyone who has been to university knows that often than not the rooms aren't massive and when you're a blogger the chances are you have more stuff than room and it's a nightmare trying to find places to store it all so I thought I'd give you some tips today for keeping your room organized and finding places for all of your stuff (or at least most of it anyways)

First off, start by sorting out your stuff to get rid of unwanted items:
Clothes that no longer fit? DVDs that you're holding on to that you've never watched? Get rid of them all, have a good old clear out and if you find anything which is worth money, sell it online and then use the money to put towards storage space for your new room. Win win situation!

Drawers and boxes are your best friends:
My uni room consists of a stack of storage boxes from Tk Maxx which are perfect for buying different sizes and stacking them on top of each other, or just having one big one. They look lovely and you can fill them with different items, I use mine for items I have no idea what to do with. Also sets of draws are perfect for storage and although they take up more room it's an awesome way to store things easily. I have a big set full of makeup and one mini set on my desk for pens, and brushes and other bits and pieces saves the desk clutter.

Order your wardrobe:
Most wardrobes have a top section, a wardrobe part then a set of drawers underneath so it's about making the most of the space you have. The top part is perfect for bags and shoes, or if you have a lot of shoes like me the draw under your bed is another perfect place. Of course the middle bit is for hanging clothes, do this in order and it's perfect for keeping organized. I like to have longer stuff at the end like jeans and dresses then tees separate. If you are desperate for space you can use this for storing other things like shoes and bags but if not you can keep this free of clutter. Lastly the drawers are perfect for storing all of your clothes, make sure they're folded and then you can fit more in. I usually keep one of the drawers free for summer clothes/winter clothes to keep my wardrobe less cluttered.

Keep it clean:
I am terrible at this, but my room honestly feels 100x bigger when it is clean as there's space to walk and you can see the floor, when the room is quite compact more mess makes it feel cluttered which equals smaller space.

These are my basic tips for ordering your university room and if you have a massive room I am super jealous of you, as I want a lovely dresser and lots of makeup room!

Ten Weird University Societies | Lifestyle

I think societies are an awesome way to make friends at university who have similar interests to yourself, of course you have your friends who you know from your accommodation then probably some in your lectures but it's good to have friends who you have a lot in common with also. After reading up on this I thought I would share with you ten weird societies followed accompanied by some rather strange GIFs.

1. The Caramel Wafer Appreciation Society:
I guess they just really like caramel wafers and want to share their love of that with others!

2. The Hummus Society:
This kind of reminds me of Will off the Inbetweeners like everytime I hear of anyone liking hummus, I can't say I would join a society due to my love of hummus.

3. The Kettle Society:
Sharing their love of teas made in different types of kettles, not one for me as I hate tea.

4. The Curry Love Society:
This makes a little bit more sense, although I am not a fan of curry in the slightest.

5. The Cheesy Pop Society:
NOW we are talkin' I need this society at my university, talking love of anything N sync and Backstreet Boys sounds like my kinda thing.

6. Stitch and Bitch Society:
I understand the stitching but the two don't seem to go together well in my opinion? Stitching just seems peaceful and well mainly for the older generation?

7. Hide and Seek Society:
Okay so this is way cool, and I am not even joking. I would happily meet up with people and play hide and seek, who says this game is just for kids on rainy days.

8. The Twenty Minute Society:
A society where you have twenty minutes to get a location which is texted to you and they do something fun at that location.

9. The Fetish Society:
Basically what it says on the tin, a society where people meet to discuss their love of weird fetishes and why they enjoy them... *hides*

10. The Pancake Society:
My favourite on the list has to be this one, I love pancakes and would happily join a society to talk about them and eat them.

Why You Should Shop Around For Your Bills | Lifestyle

The TV is constantly packed full of adverts of how you can save money on this that and the other, but when it comes to it there's usually some kind of small print of how you actually don't save money and you actually get tricked into paying more. I love websites which compare the cheapest prices and although it may be more effort I think it's well worth doing for the fact that in the end you end up paying less... way less. I am talking from experience when I say, that certain places claim they want to help students but actually end up making it worse for them. Recently me and my friends signed up to a website which helps you divide the bills between yourself and your fellow housemates in one monthly sum where it go to the company and they personally sort out your bills and pay them for you, sounds perfect right? I thought so too, until it turns out they were charging us nearly £250 a month more than what we actually needed to pay!

Our landlord spoke to us about how we were paying our bills and we told him the run down and he turned around to tell us at least 2 of the things we were being quoted waaaaay more than what we should actually pay. For example our water was being caped at £21 a month between us all, we were being charged 10 each which is a huge difference. When it came to the amounts added up we were paying around £69 each a month for something that actually should come around £25 which is a huge increase. We managed to get out of our contract as they told us a different price for their fee also which was supposed to be 99p each a month and it turned out to be around £7 each which is totally not cool. When we looked into our bills the second time around we searched a lot of sites as well as different compare sites for each of the bills to find out the best deals for what we wanted, although we didn't get a meerkat toy as a different comparison site offered some better deals *sad face* but I am glad we managed to get out of the situation or we would of all been in a hell of a lot more debt than what we needed to be.

When it comes to moving into your own house as a student with your friends, I urge you to take the time to look around for the best deals and don't trust the sites which claim to be helping you out, because of course in the short term its easier but in the long term it leaves you in a sticky situation.

How To Deal With Long Distance Relationships | Tips

Going to university can often mean moving to a new town/city, making new friends and possibly even meeting a romantic interest which is perfect if of course you're single. If you meet that person at university, or you have that person waiting back for you at home it can include large periods of separation making you in a long distance relationship and dependant on how far apart it is, it can often mean weeks or even months without seeing that person which obviously sucks. I think it's important to remember how much you care for that person and despite not being in a room with them everyday it doesn't mean that you don't love it each other, it just means for a while you can't be together all of the time.

I thought today I would compile a list of tips for you lovelies, to help with long distance relationships and how to make them work and after all what doesn't kill you (or break you up in this sense) will make you stronger right?

Communication is key:
This may seem fairly obvious but to some people it actually isn't, I think it's important to make a time in your day everyday to speak to that person, whether it be a text, a call or something else like Skype or Facetime, I had a friend at college who had a girlfriend in Ireland and they used a free app to call each other which they found helpful. Of course as you're at university, the chances are it won't be for too long so you can plan your return dates and plan things to do when you're back.

Surprise Visits:
Who doesn't love surprises? I think it's an awesome idea to go visit your other half whether it be for a day or a week, it'll mean the world to them and give you a chance to spend a bit of time together which of course is a win on both parties.

Skype Dates:
So this is going to sound totally random and to some people a no go, but if you're a fan of skype or some other platform online which involves a webcam this one is for you. Set an hour or two a week where you can hang out together, although you may not be in the same room, you can still see each other and even watch the same thing or eat the same thing. It's a bit of fun, and a new way to date!

Remember it's not forever!
Like I said at the start of this post, it's important to remember the distance isn't forever and if you make it through the distance, when you're together it'll be way more worth it and it'll make you stronger than ever, and if you can survive being apart for so long you'll definitely be okay when you're back together!

The guide to drinking games | Lifestyle

If there's one thing all university students are good at, it's drinking games. There are so many different games out there, often they change name from uni to uni but they tend to have the same rules, I love the different games that people play as it's a lot more fun than just drinking on your own. Most games just involve a simple pack of cards which is definitely worth having in your flat, so if you don't have any, go invest! I thought today I would share with you some drinking games which are always worth playing with your friends!

Cards Against Humanity:
I actually found out about this game when I was round my families house at Christmas and played with my Grandma who had no idea what the game entailed. I love the idea behind the game despite it being so messed up! To those of you who don't know, the game involves having 7 cards and then everyone takes it in turns to be the card tsar and reads out a statement or a question and then you have to pick out of your cards which you think fits best. Now the fun part, half of the cards don't even make sense, they include a lot of rude and offensive statements and if you're easily offended it's probably not the game for you, but it's a lot of fun and worth an investment.

Never Have I Ever:
This one is a great game for getting to know people better, and it's as simple as going round in a circle and someone asks a question starting with 'never have I ever...' and names something, and if you have done that thing you drink. It's an easy and none effort required way to get drunk, and fast.

Ring Of Fire:
This game involves a bit more explaining but it basically involves a deck of cards and a pint glass and it ends with the person who gets the last king in the pack drinking the 'dirty pint' which is made up of drinks placed in the pint glass throughout the game. As there are many different card meanings I thought I would leave this link here to tell you what each card means and how to play.

Ride The Bus:
Another more complicated came to explain with another set of rules but well worth learning them as it's a hilarious game which involves you being very drunk if you're unlucky in this game! The basics of this game are that it involves four rounds and you are asked a series of questions based on the cards e.g. higher or lower and if you're wrong you drink. But if you want to play this game, and need instructions on how to do so check out this awesome page.

The Perks Of Having A Student Card | Tips & Tricks

So everyone has a student card if they're at university, some people choose to wear it around their neck and others keep it in their bag, the point being everyone has one. Although they are used at university for things such as printer credits and proving who you are they're also awesome outside of the uni, and today I thought I would share with you the awesome things you can do with a student card which are totally nothing to do with university at all.

1. Get free food at McDonalds
This had to be first on the list of course, who doesn't want free Mcdonalds? When you buy a meal you can get a free item such as fries, a mcflurry and a cheese burger. I'm not complanin' at that.

2. Online Discounts
UNiDAYS is a perfect example, you sign up with your university number through the portal and then you can use a variety of amazing discounts on clothes and other awesome stuff. My favourite is the year of Spotify premium for £5.99 a month and also when clothing stores have 25% off *kerching!*

3. In Store Discounts
When you're out shopping, it's a great thing to know that in most shops you get some kind of discount or perk with your card whether that be a free item again or 10% discount, it's still amazing. I am forever using mine in New Look and Topshop.

4. Cheaper/free entry into clubs
I guess this depends on place and the day but most clubs offer a discount with a student card, I know in my town it's free before a certain time with the card which is a bonus and if you want to go after the time I know that some clubs offer a discount with a card which is always handy.

Surviving Freshers | Tips & Tricks.

It's that time of year again when Freshers is fast approaching, and for those of you who don't know what that it is it's basically one week (sometimes even two) of meeting new people and getting very drunk! Despite the nerves being in full swing I think the fact that alcohol is involved makes it a lot easier for people to get to know each other especially as it makes everyone a lot less off edge. I decided as my first real post that I would share with you my top tips for surviving freshers and having the best time!

Tip One:
Stock up on alcohol- you can never have too much alcohol in freshers week and the more you drink during pre drinks, the cheaper it is on a night out, win win!

Tip Two:
Plan in advance- there are so many different events going on during Freshers week that it's impossible to attend them all, talk to people and find out which ones are good to go to and also which you want to go to as there are many different things taking place e.g. fancy dress and paint parties

Tip Three:
Sleep- this sounds like an obvious one, but if you're up all night you probably need to sleep for a lot of the day, which during freshers is totally normal and okay to do (as long as you attend your welcome week lectures)

Tip Four:
Always have cash- being in a new place can make the lack of knowledge of where things are, I would recommend getting cash out and having some on you for a night out plus then you don't have to take your card out (and end up loosing it like some people *coughs* me) but don't carry around too much as you may spend more than you planned ot.

Tip Five:
Get chatting- get talking to people and get to know people you live with/near and make friends, it's a lot easier on the nights out if you have people around you and also less chance of you getting lost!

If you're starting university this year, good luck and enjoy freshers!
