Surviving Freshers | Tips & Tricks.

It's that time of year again when Freshers is fast approaching, and for those of you who don't know what that it is it's basically one week (sometimes even two) of meeting new people and getting very drunk! Despite the nerves being in full swing I think the fact that alcohol is involved makes it a lot easier for people to get to know each other especially as it makes everyone a lot less off edge. I decided as my first real post that I would share with you my top tips for surviving freshers and having the best time!

Tip One:
Stock up on alcohol- you can never have too much alcohol in freshers week and the more you drink during pre drinks, the cheaper it is on a night out, win win!

Tip Two:
Plan in advance- there are so many different events going on during Freshers week that it's impossible to attend them all, talk to people and find out which ones are good to go to and also which you want to go to as there are many different things taking place e.g. fancy dress and paint parties

Tip Three:
Sleep- this sounds like an obvious one, but if you're up all night you probably need to sleep for a lot of the day, which during freshers is totally normal and okay to do (as long as you attend your welcome week lectures)

Tip Four:
Always have cash- being in a new place can make the lack of knowledge of where things are, I would recommend getting cash out and having some on you for a night out plus then you don't have to take your card out (and end up loosing it like some people *coughs* me) but don't carry around too much as you may spend more than you planned ot.

Tip Five:
Get chatting- get talking to people and get to know people you live with/near and make friends, it's a lot easier on the nights out if you have people around you and also less chance of you getting lost!

If you're starting university this year, good luck and enjoy freshers!

What is this blog about? | Introduction.

Welcome to Dungarees & Degrees, I am so happy you've arrived. I thought I would do a bit of a post to share what is going to be included on this blog and what you can expect from it. I am planning on doing a post twice a week around the topic of students and being a student this can range from dealing with exam stress, to freshers and even budget tips. I want to include the fun side of being a student as well as dealing with the difficult things such as coursework, exams and even your dissertation. Although this blog is primarily aimed at university students the budget tips and recipes are perfect for anyone. I am excited to be able to have somewhere to write about student things rather than over impose on my current blog. I have so many post ideas written down which I can't wait to write up, this blog will contain different food recipes on a budget, managing your money, how to have an awesome night out, making the perfect cocktails, dealing with exam stress, I've picked the wrong degree what now, and a TON more! I am excited to start this new venture and I hope it is as successful as I want it to be. Let me know of any topics you want to see covered in the comments below! :-)
